May always seems like a busy month because it’s often a month of celebrating the people in my life.
There are graduations, weddings, anniversaries, and several birthdays.
Thankfully one of my love languages is giving gifts. But this month, as I’ve endeavored to take things a bit more slowly, I’ve pondered the possibilities of revving things up when it comes to being increasingly present for the Littles in my life.
I’m not really the “Auntie” who gravitates toward annual visits or random phone calls on birthdays that result in catching up on the year before. I learned long ago that my perfectionist tendencies weren’t the most helpful so I chucked my penchant for planning all activities and instead, started showing up and investing the time.
With the way the days seem to fly by, my hope is that this month, we can all take a little more time to just show up, to be present, to celebrate, and enjoy the simple moments. I’ve always found planning to be helpful, but just taking action has always been appreciated and led to some memorable moments.
